I think that anything that you already have you should go on using (even wool, leather etc).  If you give it away, you have to replace, with its own environmental and other costs.  And if an item is worn to pieces by you or someone you have given it to, what difference is it going to make to any animal, or anything else for that matter?  In fact if you keep it at least you’ll probably wear it to death;  someone else might put it in a bin after a short time….
I won’t comment on the ethics of acquiring new items that might or might not fit your personal criteria.
